What Causes Neck Pain?

Bad Posture

The most common cause of neck pain is bad posture. Modern working conditions typically require people to sit at a desk for upwards of 8 hours a day—and most of us are sitting the wrong way. Over time, this can cause acute neck injuries or chronic neck pain.

Neck Strain

Other neck strain can cause neck pain as well. Constantly hunching over a computer, staring down at a smartphone, or even sleeping in with an unsupportive mattress or pillows can cause neck pain.

Accidents & Traumas

Finally, injuries from auto accidents or other trauma can cause neck pain. Whiplash, for example, is an injury caused by the neck being sharply forced forward and then back, and is a very common car accident injury. This can immediately cause a serious alignment problem with the cervical spine, and pain comes along with it.
